recitalBannerLafayette Ballet Ballroom, May 8 at 7:00 PM

All students are eligible to participate in our spring program in May and are automatically included in our planning. Most of the preparation will be done within the designated class times for the students. Occasionally there will be extra rehearsals to ensure good coordination among the groups, and proper placement in the program. These will be posted in advance, and listed here on the site as well. Students who do not wish to perform will still learn the material with the class. Adult students may participate by request. Please let us know your preferences at the desk or by email.

Mandatory Dress rehearsal for ALL Participants Saturday May 8 from 11:30AM - 1:30PM in the ballroom at 226 N. 6th Street, Lafayette. No students will be allowed to perform in the evening without attendance at this important rehearsal.

The Program : l'Ile Enchantée or the Enchanted Isle

Music by Sir Arthur Sullivan composed in the early 1900's transports us to a world of fairies, sprites, storms, sunshine, and imagination. All classes will be included except the adult beginning class, and soloists will be invited from the upper classes. Please join us and share in the pride our students display in their learned technique, and their stage magic - all important parts of learning the art of ballet.

Costumes:
All dancers Fundamentals level and above will be asked to wear the Lafayette Ballet School uniform: white tank leotard and short white chiffon skirt, pink tights and clean pink ballet shoes (available at the Enchanted Pointe).

Creative Dance and Dance Basics Students are asked to wear a solid pastel leotard and pink tights and shoes.

Hair should be styled as cleanly as possible away from the face with a classical bun when long enough, or a short pony tail. Very short hair can be pulled away from the face with small barrettes. All decorative hair ornaments should be avoided, as a characteristic head piece for each group will be provided and returned to the school.

Duration and appropriateness

The program will last less than an hour, and be enjoyable for all ages. Seating is open in the ballroom, but we ask you to limit your guests list to 5, so that all may have room. Young children are most comfortable on the floor in front of the seating area, as the chairs are not tiered.

Photos and videos: should be taken AFTER the program. This is a very intimate performance space, and dancers are aware of the audience, their reactions, and their actions. If your primary focus is recording their dance, they will NOT do their best. Camera flashes, red eye lights, and laser focus lights all distract from their dancing.Your LCD panel is distracting to those sitting behind you.

Dress rehearsal is also a more well lighted and appropriate time to do any video recording, or photography without flash. Please be considerate of others.

Please address any additional questions or concerns to Mrs. Becker at the desk or email us. We look forward to a great show!
