NEWSLETTER NEW YEAR 2026

Dear Students and Parents.

On to our Performances

We have an intensive month in preparation for our spring performances. The Elementary/Adv. classes, Int/Adv. classes and the pointe classes have changed to 226 N 6th Street. No effect for the Ballet Discovery or Beginning classes, except that they will have excursions to the ballroom to prepare them for the upcoming performance. Every dancer needs rehearsal. This is essential. An unprepared dancer is a frightened and confused dancer. We wish to have joyous sharing of their techinique and energy.

DATES: MAY 6, 7, 8, at 7:30PM in the Ballroom. All students will be involved if they wish, although there will be some outside of class rehearsal for the Elementary and up levels. Reservations must be made to ensure safe seating practices and fairness for all participants . You may send your reservations _ limit 5 persons per performance (yes children count as a person) to lafayetteballetco@gmail.com. You must include contact name, and number so we can let you know if there are no places available. We have limited seating. Do not wait until the day you are coming. We will consider those walk-in and hold your guests until all others are seated.

The story ballet we will perform is THE PIED PIPER. The repertory piece for the Company is AIR, EARTH, WATER, FIRE.

Dress Rehearsals will be Monday and Tuesday May 4, and 5. All dancers will need to be present at 226 N 6th St by 5:30PM - Dancers not in the second piece will be dismissed by 7:30PM. Preferaby you will have your dancer properly dressed. Young dancers Beginning and Ballet Discovery will be wearing caps, so you will need to have the hair pulled into a low pony tail only. Long hair can be in a band, then braided and finished with an elastic. That will be placed under the cap. Ladies, pink tights and shoes and uniform leotard. Gentlemen as instructed. These dancers do not need make-up in the intimate viewing of the ballroom, but if you wish to use blush or a bit of dark pink lipstick, that is your choice.

We will need some volunteer dressers and supervision. Please send your availability for Dress Rehearsal, Monday May 4, Tues May 5, Performance: May 6, May 7, May 8. If we have enough volunteers you will be able to watch a performance from the front. Please do not think that you are the only parent with a busy schedule. Your dancers need the support.

That brings us to the final 2 weeks in May. We will be doing some demonstration classes in the Ballroom so that you can see the work that produces the performances. Please let us know if you and your student wish to continue class these last 2 weeks, or if you have other obligations in the busy month of May which take priority. We will be doing a small, informal showcase on May 21 the last day of classes. This is only specific students or groups, and your student is not obligated to participate. But if you wish to come and observe, you will see the efforts of small ensembles, classical variations, and fledgling pointe dancers.

Please all Elementary students: Check the Rehearsal page regularly because we cannot set choreography in your regular classes. Your name has already appeared. Those who understand and work on this choreography will have more dancing and more involvement.

Stay well, stay involved, stay dancing, and be excited.

Our Ballroom grows in its technical capaciities. It is exciting. We try to make videos available after the fact, and music copyrights sometimes make pieces of these offerings less than satisfactory, but we try. For these reasons the performance videos are coded on YOUTUBE as UNLISTED. They cannot be searched through the Youtube indexing system. The Ice Queen has not yet been edited into video but it will be in the coming weeks.

Both performance videos of the Spring 2025 performance are available as Youtube viewing.

I have been re-invigorated by the energy and interest of our students. Ballet is not easy. But it will create a love for life of long term goals, beauty, team-work, and communication. It does not go away, this yearning for something beautiful and meaningful. Try to encourage your dancer, and keep the fall full of energy and caring.

EMAIL your interest or your questions.
We hope that you have a re-invigorating spring.

Thank you. Sandra Peticolas, Director
